Re: (rshsdepot) AIA's Top 150 Buildings includes railroad stations

Lackawanna Station in Scranton, now a hotel, though its tracks remain
CNJ terminal in Jersey City, nicely restored by NPS, with Bush shed
Buffalo Central Terminal, though in ruined condition, still a gem
St. Louis Union Station, now a hotel, though tracks are gone
Rome, NY nicely restored and still an Amtrak stop

AIA's Top 150 Buildings includes train stations
Author: RuleG

The American Institute of Architects (AIA) conducted a survey of public
asking about their favorite buildings. The top 150 buildings include the
following train stations:

New York Grand Central Terminal
Washington Union Station
Cincinnati Union Terminal
Los Angeles Union Passenger
Chicago Union Station
Kansas City Union Station
New York Penn Station (the accompanying photo shows the original
station which was demolished)
Philadelphia 30th Street Station

The Washington, DC Metro was also included.

Here's a link to the AIA list:

http://www.aia150.org/aia150_afa_7

I don't see how NY Penn Station was included as it was demolished.
Chicago Union Station has lost too much of its original structure.

Of the stations on the list Grand Central and Los Angeles Union
Passenger Terminal are my favorites. I hope to visit Cincinnati Union
Terminal some day.

Here are some of my favorites:

North Bennington Railroad Station - Benington, VT
Utica Union Station - Utica, NY
Lackawanna Station - Hoboken
Pennsylvania Station - Baltimore
CNJ Station - Bethlehem, PA
Pennsylvania RR Station - Harrisburg
Pittsburgh & Lake Erie Station - Pittsburgh
Terminal Tower (formerly Cleveland Union Terminal)
Southern Pacific Station - San Antonio
Texas & Pacific Station - Fort Worth (a true art deco gem)
Duluth Union Depot
Denver & Rio Grande station - Glenwood Springs, CO
Milwaukee Road Station - Missoula, MT
Northern Pacific Station - Wallace, ID
Southern Pacific Station - Palo Alto
Southern Pacific Station - Santa Barbara

What are your favorite depots, stations & terminals?
