I said in my previous post on November 15 that I did not know what
would happen to the station at 2880 East Carson Street in Lakewood.
Well, I do now. I went by it this morning and it had been completely
torn down. All that is left is the concrete pad.
Obviously, the UP has bigger plans for the area which is mostly used
to unload lumber from center beam flat cars. For the last several
years, the area around the station was used as a Christmas tree lot in
December. In early July, the area between the station and Carson
Street was used for a fireworks stand. I guess no more.

I guess we got going a tad too late to save the only railroad
station that Lakewood, California ever had. That is a shame, as it
seemed to be a very sturdy building and representative of many small
stations built in the 30's. Hope we got enough photos of the place -
and I wonder if U.P. was checking on our E-Mails??? Naw........
