The Salamanca Rail Museum is housed in the former Buffalo, Rochester,
and Pittsburgh Passenger depot in Salamanca, NY. The depot entrance was
damaged by a fire in July 2006.
This is from the Fall 2006 Salamanca Rail Museum newsletter: /The
Junction Express/.

MUSEUM FIRE

On July 7 an arsonist set a fire outside the main entrance to the
museum. Luckily the alarm worked and the firemen soon had the fire
extinguished. The entrance was destroyed and is to be replaced. There
was no water damage as the firemen used chemicals on the blaze. Interior
damage was mainly soot and smoke. The arsonist used several old tires
which resulted in sooty deposits all through the building. Cleanup was
delayed due to a number of snafus involving the city and the insurance
company. Cleanup was underway in late October. There was virtually no
damage to artifacts, documents, furnishings, etc. Insurance will pretty
much take care of cleanup, door replacements, and so forth. However,
there is the question of our losses from Gift Shop sales and donations
during the shutdown. Previous years sales for the period were
approximately $2, 200.00, donations about $1, 500.00. The
loss of this $3, 700.00 is critical to our getting through the year.
