Re: (rshsdepot) Connecticut Shore Line East stations

The Westbrook station is the last of the SLE stations to be built, when
completed it will be nearly 5 years after Branford, Clinton & Guilford. It
has been hung up over town politics and trying to decide exactly where the
station should be located. The town is swapping land where the town garage
is located, which is next to the existing station in exchange for a state
garage near the interstate. Interestingly, I think that the town garage is
on land owned by the NHRR that was sold to the town back in the 1950's or
early 1960's.

The one advantage about going last is that the state if providing money for
platforms on either side of the tracks, which is not the case in Branford
or Clinton. Guilford has three tracks with platforms on the two outer
tracks. Madison when it is completed early next year will have platforms
on both sides of the tracks as well.
