Restoration of Minot`s Amtrak depot on hold
Restoration of the Amtrak depot here is on hold after the lowest bid for the
project came in at more than twice the original estimate.
The Amtrak Depot Restoration Committee wants to restore the building to its
1903 look.
The committee has $290,000 from a federal grant for the work, that they
estimated at around $360,000. But the low bid for the project came in last month
at nearly $780,000.
The committee said it is now considering options to raise more money, or
scale back it back to build with the funds available.
