(rshsdepot) Re: Heritage society given first opportunity
The municipality of East Hants has given the Nova Scotia Railway Heritage Society the first opportunity to lease the 1920-era CN Railway station at Elmsdale, Nova Scotia for use as the Nova Scotia Railway Heritage Centre.
The centre will be based upon the Craig Memorial Library in Ottawa, archiving books, photographs and genealogical material relating to the province's railway history.
Funding is expected t come from corporate and government sources, applications are now being prepared.
The society will not occupy the building until February. The station, which once housed a branch of the Colchester-East Hants regional library, is presently being used by Elections Canada while the January 25 2006 federal election is being conducted.
