I hope that somebody on this list can help resolve a friendly dispute
with a favored grad student which has degenerated into "Men are not
capable of following simple directions, Never mind ask for them."
We were supposed to meet at the main entrance to the 4&5 trains under the
Municipal Building. Having walked across that bridge probably hundreds of
times during my student days in Brooklyn, in my mind that main entrance
to 4&5 meant the plaza at the end of the bridge. To her it meant the
stairs that are actually under the building.
While I will concede that I should have heard "under the building" as the
operative terminology, I was under the impression that those stairs had
been closed off some time ago. They were open as of a week ago last
Thursday with quite a bit of iron fence in place.
So my question to some of the veteran New Yorkers on this list is: Is my
memory correct here or should I just plead stupidity? (I may do that
anyway)
Thanks
