EXPORAIL
THE STATION

*One word, so many memories *

Exporail, the Canadian Railway Museum, invites you to
discover its latest exhibit with the simple name, *The
Station*. As the place for meetings, good-byes and
reunions, the station still grips our imagination. This
exhibit, on display from *November 26, 2005* to *May 1,
2006*, will help you discover this special world where
time stands still.

*A place for meetings and exchanges
*Travellers, business people, tourists, immigrants and
workers have rubbed elbows for generations in railway
stations in Quebec and across Canada. These
interactions, whether momentary encounters or
interminable waits, have left echos and traces which
still haunt old stations. However, in this country whose
development has been indelibly marked by the railways,
both city and country stations have lost this ebullient
atmosphere which once filled them.

*Faces of the station: each has a story to tell
*This exhibit covers the major themes of the railway
station, including its economic role, operation,
architectural styles and the faces of railway workers.
However, it also invites visitors to reflect upon the
preservation of this aspect of architectural heritage.
What is the state of railway stations in Quebec today?
Their daily life and specific character will be revealed
to you in the course of this new exhibit.

*From November to April, Exporail is open weekends and holidays from 10
AM to 5 PM.
During this period, visitors will benefit from a 20% reduction off
the regular admission fee.

During the holiday season, the Museum will be open from 10 AM to 5 PM
December 27-30 and January 2-8.
