(rshsdepot) Re: Funding for railway heritage
The Nova Scotia Railway Heritage Society has been approved as the lessee of the former 1920's era Canadian National Railways station at Elmsdale Nova Scotia, for use as a railway heritage centre.
The group's bid was unanimously selected by the Municipality of East Hants from four bids which included a drug rehabilitation unit and a drop-in centre, both of which were opposed by immediate residents.
My question to this group, more of a plea really, is if there are any foundations etc. other than the North American Railway Foundation, to whom we might apply for funding to finance the creation of the Nova Scotia Railway Heritage Centre in the building?
NARF has advisedd we qualify for funding, but an applcation cannot be submitted until May of 2006.
Our centre will be a library, archive and serve as headquarters for the more-than 20 railway museums and heritage sites in the province, co-ordinating rotating exhibits and setting up a railway genealogy centre.
