Black Diamond's Anniversary

The Black Diamond, the Lehigh Valley Railroad's daylight train between New York and Buffalo will be 45 years old today. The
original train, equipped with the latest type of "vestibuled coaches" and Pintsch gas lights, was named as the result of a
suggestion made by a hotel clerk in Toledo in a contest. The train is streamlined now.

Fast Train Delayed by Canalboat

DOVER, N.J., June 8.-- Train No. 3 on the Delaware, Lackawanna and western Railroad, which reaches Dover at 11:11 o'clock A.M., is
scheduled to not stop here, because, it is said, the train is run in opposition to the Black Diamond Express of the Lehigh Valley
Railroad. North of the Dover station the Delaware, Lackawanna and western Railroad crosses the Morris Canal on a drawbridge at
grade, and the train has been delayed by an open draw to allow passage of a canalboat. the Morris Canal is leased by the Lehigh
Valley Railroad.
