Seth,

I was going to reply privately, but you took a cheap shot at me in public and
I can't let that pass.

I made no reference to having any political affiliation and because I say
partisan politics has no place on a RR email list you brand me as a "right
wing fanatic" and make a point of doing it in front of the whole email list? I
didn't label you with some disparaging moniker. This isn't some left vs. right
issue, this is 100% about RR email list etiquette.

Are we supposed to allow you to use this list as your personal political
soapbox any time you feel like it? I let the first fusillade of cheap partisan
shots go by and when you folks insisted on continuing to subject the list
membership to successive doses of disgruntled political rhetoric I decided to
speak up because a few of you obviously _weren't_ going to let this drop.
There were no "one or more items that were already on" requiring your answer,
that phrasing is pure misdirection. You and some others were whipping each
other into an offensive anti-Bush/anti-republican frenzy which has no business
appearing on this public-access RR email list.

I run a good number of RR related forums and provide the email list
infrastructure for this list and I don't tolerate left OR right wing
partisan soapboxing on RR discussion forums. Why in the world anyone want to
take a group of enthusiasts who share a common interest and and divide them
with inflammatory speech? It completely undermines the purpose of this forum
and can only discourage others from future participation. Do you really want
this email list to degenerate into some political slugfest? I have seen lists
destroyed by a few people refusing to keep their political viewpoints at a
less than offensive level, more than once, and that will not happen here.

It is NOT your or anyone's right to use the email list to force political
viewpoints on others and forcing others to unsubscribe form this list to
escape political rants is completely unacceptable.
