Sorry for the confusion. Morton, PA is Correct. I came across a
website for the Morton, Washington effort recently -
www.mortondepot.com. A bit Twilight Zone-ish (the Morton, PA station
website is www.mortonstation.com), but I am glad to see our sister
station across the continent is being preserved too.

>After a lot of hard work by our group, our efforts are paying off, but we still need all the help we can get. There are several important developments to announce and things continue to move forward quickly. Here are the highlights:
> a.. We are currently working with Morton Borough and Springfield Township on a grant from the Renaissance Program, a community development initiative administered by the Delaware County government. If the application is successful, it is expected to provide a substantial amount of the total cost of the Westbound Passenger Shelter restoration project. Pending Board approval, funds raised by Morton Station Preservation Committee will be pledged as matching funding in support of the grant application. The application must be approved by Morton Borough, as the lead municipality. For this reason, we need our supporters to come to the August Borough Council meetings (listed above) to ask the Council members to support the grant application. We are also asking Springfield Township to back the application as a supporting municipality. We believe that we have a strong case for winning this grant, which will be crucial to the timely completion of the Westbound Passenger Shelter rest!
> oration. Please come out and show your support!
> a.. We have hired a Structural Engineer, Mr. Eric Larsen of Thornton-Tomasetti Group, using funding provided by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Eric has completed draft copies of the design drawings for the repair of the rear wall and foundation of the Westbound Passenger Shelter, which we and SEPTA have agreed is the primary concern at this time. The draft drawings have been submitted to SEPTA for their comment prior to completion of the final construction drawings. The design includes a new concrete foundation, new metal seats to tie the existing wooden posts to the foundation, and correction of the lean of the wall. Once this work is complete, the wall will be reconstructed using as much of the original wood siding as possible.
> a.. We will be speaking to contractors regarding completion of the work once the final construction drawings are received. SEPTA will work with MSPC and our contractor to install shoring to insure the stability of the shelter through the fall and winter weather. We expect the reconstruction of the back wall to be completed in early spring. Additional work, including repair of the front corner posts and foundations, roof and gutter repairs, and painting may also be completed at that time if sufficient funding is available. This is why is crucial that we have support for the Renaissance grant application discussed above, as well as continuing our own fundraising efforts.
> a.. SEPTA has indicated a willingness to include the main Passenger Station on their long term Capital Improvements priority list. Hopefully, this will lead to Federal Transportation Enhancement funding for the station restoration. We hope to continue to partner with SEPTA to support a historically sensitive restoration of the station.
> a.. The Morton Station Complex has been deemed eligible for the National Register of Historic Places by the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission. Though it does not insure the preservation of the buildings, it will be very helpful in applying for grants and focusing attention on our effort.
>Additional help is always welcome for for our committees, including Fundraising,
>Architectural/Construction, Publicity, and Historical. Please contact us if you can help, whether a little or a lot. One major person on our wish list is an accountant to help us with our IRS filings.
