JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - City officials plan to buy an old train terminal for
$5,000 and turn it into green space.
The Johnstown Redevelopment Authority will buy the Baumer Street station and
tear down the former freight terminal in about a month, said authority
Director Ron Repak.
The terminal, which is now owned by the CSX Corp., dates back to the 1900s
and was part of the former B&O Railroad. It has been vacant for about a
decade and many see it as an eyesore in the city.
CSX had asked for as much as $80,000 dollars for the terminal, but the price
was gradually lowered until the city agreed to buy it.
