The Mockern Bridge (left front) crosses the Landwehr Canal. This spot known for its 4 levels of traffic, water, street, long
distance trains, elevated railroad. In 1939, the S-Bahn subway was added.

This 1902 picture is of Berlin-Kreuzberg Möckernbrücke station is gone, alas. But here it is in 1906:

Hallesches Tor station, 1902: http://berlin-verzeichnis.de/kreuzberg/bilder/hochbahn.jpg
Amazing Victorian stations were on the Hochbahn.

Gleisdreieck, 1902, double arched bridges, the Hochbahn crossing:

Here we see what the Gleisdreieck der Hochbahn was all about. It translates as "turning triangle" and here we see the view of all
three curved arch viaduct roadways of this "triangle"...with what I guess is a way into the shops in the middle, an elevated shops.
This is really an amazing archival photo/old postcard, with a two car Hochbahn on the right:

Note that most of this El was in the Kreuzberg district...the original Hochbahn.

I think this last photo is so incredible that I will pause here....to be continued
