I want to thank you all for the input. You have given me some food for
thought. The WaWa Corp. is big, mean, ruthless and intimidating. Plus they
probably have more money than God. Pemberton is a small town with many
historic buildings, Bed and Breakfasts, Antique Shops, etc. and The North
Pemberton Railroad Station Museum. We have two "Mom and Pop" gas stations
that were outraged and said they would go out of business if the Super WaWa
Gas Station came to town and they were on our side. Two months ago one of
them stopped selling gas and no longer cares about anything because WaWa is
paying them NOT to sell gas. The way WaWa works is to open up their gas
stations with prices way below the smaller gas stations and then raise their
prices when all the other gas stations close. There is already a WaWa
right across the street from the RR Station which will close and be
abandoned when the new one goes up. The Super WaWa will also block the
entrance to the already existing Railroad Station Museum which has already
been designated an Historic Site by the state of New Jersey. The Township
Council states that we need Tax Ratables in the community and the expansion
planned by the Trust is not a ratable. Attached is our plan showing the
already restored RR Station and section house.
