There were actually two elevated railways in Berlin, still in Berlin. There was the Hochbahn, a true Elevated. Then there was the
suburban loop line which also elevated in Berlin and its various parts and suburbs thereof.
This is a long multi-part episode so to speak, but I guarantee that many and most of these pictures are quite amazing. The elevated
stations on both systems were Victorian wedding cakes of architecture, some in a Classical style....They are beautiful and most were
destroyed during WWII , the Hochbahn was left in pieces until recent years when it was fixed, the bombed out sections replaced,
rebuilt....Kreuzberg is a district in Berlin I think...Eventually you will see where the Hochbahn once went through an arch in an
apartment building...as I say, it is amazing...even as the Bangors are hanging, the elevated stuff is too good not to send....
So herewith is the Berlin Elevated, the Berklin Hochbahn, and there will be maps. Opened 1902, reopened 1992.
Berlin's elevated railroad (Hochbahn) is 102 years old, but there is a gap after (and during) the second World War. Many stations
and they were quite beautiful
Hochbahn ("High Line") is German name for elevated railway. An elevated railway viaduct is a Hochbahnviadukt.
Which is electric railway and which Hochbahn . I think figuring out which, well maybe I can tell the difference..
Kreuzberg section of Berlin had an elevated railway.

Built 1899-1902 between Kreuzberg district boundary and Nollendorfplatz entry ramp.
An amazing photo. Here must be building or end of the line of the Hochbahn in Berlin:

There is also Gleisdreieck ("reversing triangle") is the name of this station, here is a train approaching inside:

What looks like a clock is actually a weather station:

The above is a great picture, we see the Hochbahn and the station, we see cobble stones or Belgian Brick, streetcars, horse drawn
omnibus and an old style one like on old 5th Avenue, and those great buildings

I think this is what it meant by two stations here at Hallesches Tor, but both today are on U1 line (U Bahn is the metro, here the
old el):

Here too on the old elevated: http://stud3.tuwien.ac.at/~e9825008/pix/de/nah/bvg/u1001a.jpg
Here at Schlesisches Tor, is an exquisite elevated shot with those buildings, you don't see buildings like that on the Jerome Avenue
el (maybe if you look up the Grand Concourse you'd find copies):

I haven't gotten to the great stuff yet...
Here for instance (if you said, hey where's the beautiful stuf already) is Bülowstraße hochbahn station, look at all that glass
(Buelowstrasse): also anotherweather station/multi-faced clock:

•see this page, in German, about the weather stations: http://www.wettersaeulen-in-europa.de/urania.htm
