Preserve Piermont history
Piermont was defined in large measure by the major national rail building
that gave the village its name.

But there's also a move to relocate the station downtown, from the hills of
the village to the area most tourists know. We hope that does not happen.
This historic building, which in the later years of the 20th century was the
private home of Belle Kelly, the last station agent/telegrapher and her son
Tom, served the line from Jersey City to Nyack, not the old, original Erie
to Suffern and the canal. Relocating it would dilute and confuse its
history, much like removing the Statue of Liberty to Manhattan so no one has
to take a boat.
