The new "Oregon State Railroad Museum" scheduled to open in 2005, has
received and accepted an official offer from Polk County, Oregon, of
the gift of the old Perrydale Railroad Depot. The condition is, that
it must be removed from its present location; and since it would not
be truckable any distance (heigth and it's leaning), it will need to be
dismantled.
I'm hoping that once the roof is removed, the building (approx 30' X
25') can be taken apart in wall sections; and not have to be 100%
disassembled. Either way, we need people who would like to see the
depot saved, to volunteer to help us disassemble and move the depot.
We also need a large truck to haul it; as well as a temporary site to
store the sections, until we get a museum location. We are looking
into several options for that.
The museum's new website is now online; and as of Tuesday, we changed
the homepage's format. The website's url is <http://osrm.org>.
Please, consider helping us to save this historic Oregon railroad
depot; as we have only a couple of months to get it removed, or the
land owner will have it bulldozed; and it will be lost forever.
Thank you. Our museum's email is <mailto:webmaster_@_osrm.org>.
