Yes, it is. The station in question was built at the corner of South
Franklin and West Washington Streets in 1895. It was the main Syracuse
station of the New York Central. In those years, the New York Central passenger
trains went right through the main streets of Syracuse. This arrangement lasted
- -- incredibly -- until 1936, when a passenger bypass was built. In the early
1960s, that bypass became an interstate highway, and passenger trains were
rerouted to a longer freight bypass route, with the station being moved to a
modern building in East Syracuse -- far away from downtown. Finally, about two
years ago, a new Amtrak station was opened adjacent to a shopping center not far
from downtown Syracuse.
