From the crammed ticket counters on the first floor to the multipurpose room
and photo displays on the fourth floor, Everett Station is functioning as
intended nearly a year after opening.
The new building, 3201 Smith Ave., east of downtown Everett just off Pacific
Avenue, opened Feb. 4, replacing transportation depots that had been
dispersed throughout the city.
The $ 44 million building, with a lobby rising four stories, now has service
by Amtrak, Greyhound, Community Transit, Sound Transit and Everett Transit.
The only missing planned service is Sound Transit's commuter-rail line,
which is projected to begin in 2004.
Everett Station also houses employment help offered by WorkSource, a state
agency, and college classes run through the University Center.
About 100 people work in the building, said Joan Olsen, building manager for
Coast Real Estate Services, which runs the building for the city of Everett.
All but about 4,000 square feet of space is leased in the 64,500-square-foot
building, she said.
