(rshsdepot) Whitestone branch remnant?

There was a quite sickening story today about a woman raped by a gang of
sh_ts just off the LIRR platform near Shea Stadium
(Willet's Point stop I guess), in an overgrown are just west of
Flushing-Corona Park, west of Grand Central, where a cut-off old curved
track goes into the overgrown area,..

It seems to be curving up towards the east side of Flushing Bay, and
could be the original turn-off for the old Whitestone branch...

Or just an old freight thing..

I have to assume now this area is to be cleared to prevent such an
occurrence (it also shows that the type of wandering I have done in the
past into and onto isolated abandoned areas with rail remnants might be
too dangerous for today's deranged and perverse times.), so I have to
think this remnant is soon gone...

Is it a remainder of the Whitestone branch?
