(rshsdepot) Goffs, CA, ATSF

Can anyone help the gentleman below? I suggested that he look at the
books "Coast Lines Depots: Los Angeles Division" and "Coast Lines
Depots: Valley Division," by Gufstafson and Serpico, for lots of pics
of Santa Fe 2-story stations (Goffs is pictured in the LA Div.
volume), as well as David Myrick's *Railroads of Nevada and Eastern
California: volume II: the Southern Roads*, which also has a pic of
the Goffs station from another angle as well as other similar ATSF
depots. Any place where he might find detailed elevations or floor
plans of stations similar to this?

This depot seems a little unusual (maybe not exactly a standard plan)
in that the 2nd story part is down at one end instead of in the
middle, the bay extends for the full 2 floors, and there was an
extension of the second story off the back, out over the air, held up
by wooden posts (this shows in Myrick's book).

Goffs was the junction for a line that went from the mainline near
Needles up to Ivanpah, CA, and Searchlight, NV.

Subject: santa fe depots

Do you have any pictures of a two story structure of the type that
the Santa Fe built in 1902 ? We are considering building a replica of
the one that was at Goffs, Cal which was built 1902 and torn down in
1956. From what I have found out the first floor was the office and
the second floor was a residence. We have two pictures showing an
angle view of the building but not enough to draw plans from. We, the
Mojave Desert Heritage and Cultural Association, at Goffs are
thinking about building a depot to augment our growing collection of
railroad artifacts. Any information that you may have will be
appreciated.

Thank you
Harry Baker
