Bid opening on depot renovation postponed

MUNCIE - The Indiana Department of Transportation again has postponed
opening bids for the renovation of the former Chesapeake & Ohio railroad
depot, 700 E=2E Wysor St=2E

The dilapidated, century-old building along Cardinal Greenway will become
the headquarters of Delaware Greenways Inc=2E=20

The organization's director, Steve Varner, recently drove to Indianapolis
for the bid opening=2E He was expecting at least two firms to make offers =

Gale Tschuor of Muncie and Olentangy Restoration of Marion, Ohio=2E=20

However, the bid opening was postponed until Oct=2E 15 after INDOT learned=

that it had neglected to mail bidding documents to a third company that ha=
d
asked for them=2E=20

A bid opening in August was called off because the plans and specification=
s
generated too many unanswered questions=2E=20
