Modern Passenger Trains: A National Necessity -
http://www.narprail.org/plan.htm
"Federal investment to modernize the nation’s rail system will return
substantial public benefits in a relatively short time. Investment in rail
will add needed transportation capacity, provide high quality transportation
choices, stimulate significant technological advances, increase energy
efficiency, save human lives and reduce the negative impact that the growing
demand for transportation has on air quality and the environment."
This report released by the National Association of Railroad Passengers in
June 2002 is available from its Web Site in two versions, a short Executive
summary (21 KB) and the Full plan (356 KB). Both versions are in PDF format,
requiring the FREE Adobe Acrobat Reader.
