(rshsdepot) B&O NY-Chicago
This is a continuance of my little query about the various railroads with
New York City - Chicago trains, especially the names, "varnish."
The B&O went to the city (Jersey City, but weren't they the first to use bus
as well as ferry to their depots in the city?)
Well, I know there were never any St. George/Stapleton to Chicago trains,
with a connection from Tottenville!
But perhaps there were trains or through cars B&O New York to Chicago?
Maybe they didn't last until '48; but any body have the information, train
names, duration, history, knowledge???
Paul
And now I will ask a stupid question:
Since these railroads that terminated in New Jersey sometimes listed the
city ferry slips or like the Erie and B&O (and others I guess since they are
on the old maps about town- PRR for instance.), such as the Flatiron plot
before the Fuller Building...since they listed the mileage from the big
city, from Manhattan, did they also list their times as from New York and
not from train departure site?
