Hyde Park rail station is open for visits
Poughkeepsie Journal
HYDE PARK -- The Hudson Valley Railroad Society begins another season of
open houses Saturday at the Hyde Park Historic Railroad Station on River
Road.
The station, on the National Register of Historic Places, will be open to
the public through the summer Saturdays and Sundays 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The
station is also open throughout the year Monday 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

There is no admission fee to visit the building, which has been restored to
the way it was when Franklin D. Roosevelt was president.

Inside the station are operating model railroads and historic exhibits on
both floors.

Model railroad on display

Saturday's open house will include the debut of a model railroad display of
the City of Kingston, assembled by the late Mike Rourke of Kingston. The
display is interactive, allowing children to activate a trolley, blow the
train's horn and whistle and activate the lights and siren on a police
cruiser.

Rourke's display will be on permanent display at the station.

The railroad station is next to Riverfront Park on River Road in Hyde Park.
