RE: (rshsdepot) Re: Restaurants in Railcars

A few years ago (maybe 10? maybe 15?) an entrepreneur decided to
start a restaurant in some cabooses, and decided that the historic
Canaan, CT Union Station was an ideal location for this venture.

He collected the cabooses but evidently decided that the scheme was
not going to fly. At the time I heard that the reason was that the
size and shape of the vehicles was just too small for efficient use
as a restaurant. After a few years of decaying in place and serving
as a refuge for teenagers during the warmer months, for the last few
years the cabooses have been disappearing, one by one.

Ironically, one caboose that was adjacent to the station during the
recent fire (that destroyed half the station, including the
restaurant) survived with nothing worse that some singed paint.
