(rshsdepot) Friends of the Maplewood Depot announce that the 1851 Boston & Maine wood depot is scheduled to be preserved

>From Railpace

1851 B&M DEPOT: The newly formed Friends of the Maplewood Depot announce
that the 1851 Boston & Maine wood depot is scheduled to be preserved and
moved on Wednesday, March 27. The depot is believed to be the oldest surving
in Massachusetts, and one of very few pre-Civil War railoroad structures in
existance. It will find a temporary home a few blocks down the tracks while
the Friends decide how best to proceed with restoration and reuse. A group
of concerned local citizens was hastily summoned to protect the charming one
storey structure from being razed. Contributions have been coming in to pay
for the $20,000 move, conducted by the O.B Hill Rigging Company of Natick
Mass. The Friends are currently looking for volunteers to help in the
effort. Contact: Dave Waller at firewaller_@_aol.com or write to Barbara
