Well, David,  I don't know for sure when the Waldorf-Astoria was built
(1932 sounds right), but Grand Central was completed in 1912. That's
a 20 year discrepancy in that story. Besides, if the Waldorf was being
"completed" in 1932, how would the station have been designed for
FDR who wasn't even elected until November of that year?  I'm sure
FDR used it on many occasions, but it wasn't designed for him. Either
the Metro-North spokesman was getting his facts wrong, or else the
reporter took a few unrelated facts and wove them into a "good" story.
