(rshsdepot) Minneapolis, MN

In case I don't have any more station stories I find between now and
December 25, let me take this opportunity to wish everyone on the list a
very Merry Christmas. I hope the stories I pass along have been enjoyable.

DECEMBER 17, 2001 -- A $60 million renovation and expansion project now has
made the newly opened Milwaukee Road Depot entertainment complex in downtown
Minneapolis a compelling group locale. Called The Depot for short, the
project offers a unique lodging, meeting and recreation complex built from
the remnants of an old train station that hadn't been used since 1971.

Today, the Depot features a conference center and banquet facility, a
year-round ice rink and a three-story indoor water park, plus a 227-room
Courtyard by Marriott with 23 "historic" luxury suites, and a 130-room
Marriott Residence Inn.

The Depot can accommodate up to 2,500 people in more than 67,000 square feet
of event and meeting space. There are 11 meeting rooms, a 30,000-square-foot
covered outdoor area, and two ballrooms. The Great Hall is a ballroom with
30-foot ceilings, three skylights, original hand-carved oaken woodwork and
marble flooring.

The Depot is within walking distance of such attractions as the Mississippi
River, the Historic Mill District, the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, Target
Center, the theater district, the business district and Nicollet Mall
shopping. It is part of a larger plan to create a cultural corridor along
the Minneapolis riverfront.
