BIDS FOR TRAIN STATION PROJECT: Three bidders have submitted proposals for
completing platforms and an overhead walkway, the last major work at the new
Rensselaer train station. The Capital District Transportation Authority, the
project's developer, is examining the proposals and has scheduled a special
board meeting at 8 a.m. Aug. 22, a CDTA spokesman said Tuesday. CDTA
officials are hoping to have the station open sometime in early 2002. While
the building and attached parking garage are largely completed, track and
