Durand: Model A Club to gather at depot
Thursday, July 12, 2001

Durand - Visitors to Durand Union Station, the former Grand Trunk Western
Railroad depot, may feel as if they've entered a time warp Saturday when
they see about 15 Ford Model A cars parked around the nearly century-old
structure.

The cars, manufactured in Detroit from 1928-1931, belong to Livingston
County Model A Club members, who will tour the depot from late morning until
early afternoon, said Tammy R. Smith, museum director. She said the public
is welcome to look over the classic vehicles.

The museum, 200 S. Railroad St., will open two hours early at 11 a.m. The
Durand Union Station Model Railroad Engineers, which has built a huge model
railroad display recreating buildings and other features of the Durand area
during the mid-1900s, will show off that project, which normally can be seen
only on some weekends, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

Details: (989) 288-3561.
