Rail park plan gets city board approval

Arlington, TX came one step closer to re-creating a piece of its history
Monday night when the Park and Recreation Board endorsed a plan to build a
Railway Park north of the Union Pacific rail line downtown.

The plan centers on a proposed replica of the original depot and includes
three distinct parks meant to beautify the city, highlight Arlington's
history and attract people to downtown.

The design incorporates historic train cars, vintage automobiles, symbolic
statues, fountains and a redesigned mineral well reminiscent of the one that
used to be at Main and Center streets in downtown Arlington. -THE FORT WORTH
