(rshsdepot) The ultimate intermodal facility . . ?

Intermodal facilities are trendy today, and there are more and more
train-to-transit, train-to-bus, train-to-air, even train-to-trail setups,
but how many train-to-chairlift operations are there?
Delaware & Ulster Rail Ride in New York's Northern Catskills is
operating a connection this summer with the chairlift on Belleayre Mountain,
a ski lift which is open for scenic rides on weekends in the summer.
Trains from Arkville climb the Ulster & Delaware's old 3+% grade to what
used to be Grand Hotel Station; from trackside at the (former site of the)
depot at Highmount, a "trolley" (bus chassis dressed up to look like an open
car) connects to the foot of the chairlift, where passengers can ride up to
some nice views at the 3325 ft. summit (no laughing, Rocky Mountain types --
I've done the Karakorams, which are a hell of a lot higher, and the
Catskills are still gorgeous), picnic and/or ride or walk down, and return
to Arkville on a later train.
A nice ride, a nice way to see and hear an ex-D&H Alco RS-36 wide open
on the grade, and the chairlift makes it a "family" activity . . .
