LYONS TRAIN STATION: Both Amtrak and CSXT have okayed the construction of a
passenger train station in Lyons,N.Y. Currently, the 85 mile stretch of the
Empire Route between Syracuse and Rochester is the longest segment between
New York and Buffalo without an Amtrak stop. The last passenger train to
call on Lyons was during the 1960s. Construction of the station is expected
to commence during the spring of 2002, with the station opening 18 months
later.
