Re: (rshsdepot) Selling items on list

Denville, NJ was DL&W, actually the junction between the Morristown Line and
the Boonton Line. The Rockaway Branch (east end) also diverged here. Station
(now long gone) was located in the "V" between the two sets of tracks.
Interlocking tower stands east of the former station site on the Boonton
Line. In the early days of the DL&W, the Rockaway Branch was actually the
Main Line, and the trackage arrangement at Denville was quite different.

A technical point about Sparta Jct. The location ("SJ") was the junction of
the NYS&W and the L&HR, but the Suskie provided the building and the
operator. Based on old timetables, the L&HR seemed to perpetually have the
right of way, and the Squeak was governed by a tilt board signal which was
always left in the horizontal, or "Stop" position. When a Suskie train
needed to cross the L&H main line, the operator had to move the "tilt" board
(similar to a semaphore with the pivot point in the center) into a diagonal
position, which shunted the L&H signals to red. S&W trains operated by Train
Order in both directions at this point.
