Feds to give Palo Alto, Stanford $800,000 to renovate depot 

The City of Palo Alto, Stanford and the Valley Transportation Authority will
get $800,000 in federal funds to renovate the University Avenue Caltrain
depot.

Palo Alto and Stanford have each contributed $100,000 in matching funds to
acquire an $800,000 grant from the Federal Transit Administration. The grant
was obtained through the VTA application to the Federal Transit
Administration for Traffic Enhancement funds. The funds are used for projects
that typically do not receive FTA funding, yet contribute to the overall
environment at transit stations. 

The depot is the second most heavily used on the Caltrain system between
San Jose and San Francisco. -Mark Granados
