I did a lot of track walking when I was a kid, and that structure and the old Depew station were memorable. I got bitten by the railroad bug and became an engineer. Sadly, there is no cure for that illness. I have a low-quality JPEG of the old LV Depew depot if you're interested.

Bill,

Dave's email address wasn't posted so can't respond directly to him. This is
from a former LV employee in the Buffalo area.

Dave,

I don't recall ever seeing this concrete structure you mention on the
branch to Nia. Falls. You sure it was LV? I recall the NYC near French Road
(Gardenville Yard) but not the LV.

The structure that Greg sent looks just like the one that still stands
near the old LV Tifft Terminal yard. it has to be a water tower base. Sorry I
can't help out any better on this one.

I don't know of anything LV around French Rd in Depew either, not even N.
French Rd in Tonawanda near Tonawanda Jct (NYC). The Gardenville Cutoff was
the only line I know of that crossed French Rd near Depew.
