Roger -
That caboose is operable, but limited somewhat in it's travel by having
original friction bearings. You might note that it's operable based out of
Syracuse, as it's been borrowed and displayed or stored in Syracuse,
Jamesville, Cortland and I believe Marathon over the last 3 or 4 years. If
they could get it interchanged, there is an eventual plan to move it to new
track in Martisco (all locations NY State), just west of Syracuse. I
haven't been out there in a while to see what if any more work has been done
as to that end, but you can probably plan for it's location to change every
so often (I wouldn't be surprised if they take it to Cortland for the Maple
Festival again this year).
