Hi gang-
This is the HO scale newsletter. If you wanted another scale, send us an

and let us know which scale you're involved in.
First an update on the hobby business. A lot of hobby retailers have now
been
cut off from buying Athearn due to the stringent rules being enforced by
their new distributor. In addition, the discounts usually given to
retailers on
Athearn items have been revised by their new distributor and as usual
your favorite hobby shop gets the short end of the stick. This will NOT,
we repeat, NOT effect our pricing structure at the moment. Our usual
discount of 15% plus $5.00 for advance reservation on locomotives is
still
in effect with these exceptions: The new engines with sound, both
Broadway Limited Imports and Atlas (with sound units) have been given
a reduced discount structure from the distributors and therefore will
be discounted by us at only 10% and $5.00 for advance reservations.
We believe this is just the beginning of reduced discounts from
manufacturers to distributors and then to retailers. What does this
mean?? Higher prices to you, the consumer/customer. It maybe time to
send your emails to the manufacturers protesting what is effectively a
price increase to you? Broadway Limited Imports started this reduced
discount structure and has gotten away with it and now others like Atlas
are joining
this price increase spiral. Who does it hurt?? You, your local hobby
shop and even your mail order hobby shop. Increased prices to us mean
increased prices to you.
