(LVRR) Scratch one more...

One more landmark from the LV mainline in NY bites the dust -

Visiting Batavia last night I noted they're removing and filling in the
former Route 5 overpass on the east side of town. The ROW west of it was
pretty well reclaimed into backyards, but it was still apparent looking
east - I have a shot in the website somewhere taken off the bridge. Route
98 underpass is still there, though (this is west past the end of GVT's
segment of track). That's another one of those state-funded bridges with
the horizontal web rather than vertical.

Oddly, on the NYS Thruway they appear to be replacing a bridge that crosses
the former PRR Rochester branch, even though that's been gone since the
early '60's - someone uses it as an access road, apparently.

Also, looks like there's a golf course shaping up around where the LV
Rochester branch crossed under the Thruway, on both sides. I'd heard they
wanted to make this into a hiking trail of some sort, but never heard much
more about it.
