I am looking for information on the sanding facilities at the Sayre yards.
There were two large cylinders above the tracks, at this facility that
loaded sand into special sand hoppers. Does anyone know what the purpose
these served? Was sand shipped to other facilities from Sayre? Was a
special sand used in locomotives? Where did it come from?
Any help would be appreciated.
