(LVRR) RE:Miner-Hillard Milling leased cars
Dear Lists:
I am seeking any photos of NADX or Airslide hopper cars lettered MHMX from 1966-1970. Miner-Hillard Milling company was located in Wilkes-Barre, PA from 1875 to 1975. The company existed on the grainery in the Wyoming Valley of northeastern Pennsylvania, shipping cracked sorn, milled wheat products ( flour, etc) all over the country. They also impoprted raw grain as the local ag economy turned to vegetables and tree fruit. The company mostly used covered hoppers from the Lehigh Valley, but during the mid 1960s owned several dozen covered hoppers that used to be featured on their annual calendars.
I do not have any copies of the calendars, but if memory serves me at all well, their annual calendars had several photos of their plant and equipment, and, I believe, a local painter would do a view of the facility a la Howard Fogg.
Thank You,
Brewster Bird, relative of the Miner side of Miner-Hillard Milling.
