In concurrence with Rich Wisneski's description above, here is an 1899 map
of the vicinity. Although 30 years earlier than the photograph in
question, the key features remain, even down to the fire hydrant in front
of the Esso station. The Passaic Rolling Mill can be seen at the right
side of the photo, and St. Agnes church in the distance up the street. The
Erie South Paterson station (Newark Branch) is out of frame to the left and
rear of the photographer.
