Subject: More Information on the Howard Fogg DL&W Ad
"railway_age_alco_howard_fogg_dlw_ad_detail.jpg" - image/jpeg, 2710x2544 (24bit)

I've known of Howard Fogg's work for years but it wasn't until about 15 years that that I discovered that he painted a scene on the Syracuse Branch a little south of Chenango Forks. Come to find out, this well-known railroad artist (who grew up along the Lackawanna in NJ) painted a bunch of scenes for Alco over the years. Two years ago I found an ad out of Railway Age that someone mounted on board- so that's how it was used! I always wondered what issue it was in and today I found the answer. The local library has Railway Age on film so after running through a few rolls this week I found it- a few actually. The first was in the October 15, 1951 edition which also focused on the Centennial of the DL&W. The ad was also in the November 26th and December 10th issues- I didn't look beyond the end of 1951. Will have to keep an eye out for these now. I'm hoping the original artwork survives- that's the next puzzle.

See the original without the ad, with the ad, and a detail of the ad.

Joshua
