"DLW_v21_m61_right.jpg" - image/jpeg, 3072x2304 (24bit)

Named for the Quinn No. 6 colliery in Dunmore.

id=18320&cpage=listOperations

The E&WV No 6 branch can be seen in the center of the attached Erie v4 Pa
m51 right

The DL&W track in that area attached as DLW v21 m61 right. There note "End
of DLW Erie Interchange" on a spur near the base of the 141/142 yellow arrow
but you'll need better eyes than I have to see where it connects to the DL&W
mainline!

Hope this helps,
Frank

No. 6 Junction curve straddled MP 131 on the DL&W main line. It was beneath
the Erie's Scranton Branch viaduct spanning Roaring Brook and the Lackawanna
at Dunmore, close to the Scranton city line.
What was No. 6 Junction?
Some short branches in the region were named for a colliery that they
served. I don't see a No.6 Colliery Branch anywhere near Dunmore, but
perhaps it once existed?
A DL&W track chart shows the Erie's overhead bridge and labels it "E&WV RR
No. 6 Jct.," but does not show any track diverging from the DL&W main at
this point.

A 1920 map shows an Erie-DL&W interchange track (labeled as such) at about
MP 130.7. The map is informally revised to 1948 and the interchange track
is scratched out.
The map included in the 1959 Wyer Report shows a proposed connection at
about MP 130.9.
Did a connection exist here at the time of the merger?
