I think they were known on the railroad as Club Cars. For example, see the attached trailer car roster from the Nov 1931 issue of the General Electric Review. This publication covered all aspects of the then new electrification project. Counting the total number of cars shown here, you not surprisingly get 141 which precisely matches the number of new motor cars.

Still another name is Subscription Car, a name that appeared on the entry doors of the Gladstone Car, number 3454.

I get the digest, but were the Lackawanna cars discussed Club Cars or Parlor Cars? There is a difference. A Parlor Car would be single seats on each side, many were swivel; bar and food service may or may not be. A Club Car [first class only] may have similar seatings plus a bar/buffet/counter; or just the food service and booth and unassigned seating. Just asking. I have some schedules for the LS&MS/NYC schedules showing the local between Erie-Cleveland having a parlor car, and assignment book with how many parlor seats were reserved for each station to sell. Those seats would be released for sale after those stops if not sold.
