Subject: Signals at Sharpsville, PA
"IMG_9750.jpg" - image/jpeg, 2500x1887 (24bit)

I was in the area today so made a trip to find the signals at Sharpsville,
PA. This is on the NS Meadville Line, the former Erie between Sharon and
Meadville. The view looks west at the signal governing westward movements
from the single track to the double track west of here. The two track
segment is Rule 251 (current of traffic) territory. This is known as CP
Sharpsville.

As this is located 300 miles from my home base I was wondering if some of
the folks more familiar with the area could tell me more about this. When
was the line single tracked east of this point? Just guessing, but is the
lower 2-light unit a DL&W cast off? The eastward mast signal at the
interlocking is comprised of a searchlight top unit, three light middle
unit, and two light lower unit.

Does anyone know how many other EL-era signals remain on this line? I'm
guessing these would be the only Erie/EL signals remaining on NS-controlled
track? There are a few on the NYS&W controlled segment east of
Binghamton.

This interlocking is only about 15 minutes north of I-80 at exit 4 (western
end of Pennsylvania). This photo was taken from the adjacent road crossing
(North Mercer Ave) and side street (Canal St. Early morning is the time to
get the light. I included the second view as the building and double pole
code line added interest. Photos from September 3, 2021.

Thanks for any info
