Subject: Floorboards in Gondolas and on flatcars?
"20220819_171014.jpg" - image/jpeg, 1951x1463 (24bit)

Hello,

A modelling question, I sat watching a "how to weather" video on youtube.
One of the cars was a MILW gondola with a bright shiny floor in Yellow...

I have a number of EL flats and Gondolas that I plan to paint and weather
in N-scale and was wondering about the flooring. I assume there were wood
floors on many of these. How were the floors treated? Were they painted
in the same color as the rest of the structure or were they stained in some
"preservative" (Tar?).

I also build Swedish prototypes in 0-scale, on almost every model the floor
is wood and to be stained in grayish/black wood stain. Most Swedish freight
cars were brown, but floorboards were wood. Same in the US?

Maybe not a specific EL question, but since I model the EL it would be
great to know how EL did with their floors...

I asked about "scenic EL photos" earlier, and I got some on the "Black Rock
cut" close to Port Jervis. I finally got around to modelling my take on
that scenery, attached a photo of the almost finished result, it still
needs more vegetation around the rocks...

Hope to hear more about EL floorboards... :)
