Report for Friday, Sept 29 is the last for September. Routine day overall,
but there's a few big end-of-week trains.

WB Fleet:

TC-99: Dp HF 1:25 AOS

SC-99: Dp HF 1:45 AOS, to p/u 6 autoparts at SB (Leavittsburg), probably
harnesses from one of the Packard plants in Warren on the 2nd District. No
mention of route via 1st District like Monday's move so assume 2nd District.

BM-7: only 75" late arr HF so B&SW must be back in service. Classify at HF.

NY-99: Heavy train with BN SD40/45/45, about 30" late

SLCB: Decent train up to 2 hr late at HF. Yet another train with one 6 motor
plus one 4 motor power.

PB-99: No A/CX-99 today (remember it's a TuWeTh schedule at this time). 30"
late Dp V with decent 37 loads. Ar HF with boomer SD45 and E8, change power.

NY-97: Looks like OT at V for a change, already a big 100 car train and p/u
more at UK. 2 CD TOFC to s/o at SB rather than HF, MC-1 to fw to CD. See
Steve's comment on this. I'll add that this particular NY-97 did not cc on
the fly because added the 802.

CX-99: Monster 76 loads approaching 5000T, needs 3 SD's to keep schedule.
Makes obvious why A/CX-99 was created. At least 30" late at V; in this case,
late w/e arrival tolerated because no Chicago day sort. Nice destination
breakdown: 11 GN, actually UPS GSA facility east of GN, hiwayed to Detroit
and Lexington KY hubs; 5 N, hiway to Indianapolis; 3 St Louis fw by N&W
MS-15, arr Brooklyn 2000, this traffic will switch to ICG Sprint train via
Chicago in 8/75; 6 CEI mostly Dallas, might be a Houston in there, road
power will take this (now headend) block to CEI 35th St yard, MoPac train CE
(Chicago-El Paso) Dp at 1500 Saturday will fw to Dallas, ar Sunday evening
and deliver Monday; uncommon steel-wheel interchange at Chicago; 49 to
ground at 51st St.

BM-9: Dp BX about 2hr late behind 4F's; 6 BRC, 38 GN, 31 Lima; to p/u 2 GP35
at UK off local.

NE-97: no call time yet, looks to be a big train with 93 NY Div'n plus PC-H
from XC.

EB Fleet:

TC-100: at least 1hr behind at HF with monster 130 car train. 1 hpt, maybe
less; if no delays will probably make per diem at Bingo, but if it were me
I'd add a 4th unit at HF (if available) to better the odds.

NY-100: Short 39 car train arr HF, makes you wonder why not combined with
PB-100.

SFE-100: 90" late at KE; once again, no ID crew; adds Bingo and PO/NY at HF
and change power, 2402 to following PN-98.

NYCB: combined with PB-100, probably at N, to make decent train of 48 loads.
More than 7 hr late acc to PB schedule, but since arrival Saturday, most
trailers won't be picked up til Monday anyway. Could have combined with
NY-100 at Chicago instead. Might change engines at HF.

2/NY-100: OT and right behind NYCB, topoff 3623 at UK.

PN-98: will add the 2402 off SFE-100 to make 5 live plus 2562 dit
(dead-in-transit) for V shop; Dp GN about 30" late.

First, response to Paul's comments----

SC-99. Auto plants were on the 2nd District. Packard Electric had eight or
ten plants in Warren at the time. All of the outbound (auto
parts---harnesses) came from Plant 10 east of MK. Plant served by the
Leavittsburg Yard engines.

NY-97 CD TOFC---crew change at Meadville does not require train to stop.
Crews changed on the fly on the EL. Changing crews is one thing, setting
off at HF would require yard crew to do the work at the west end of the yard
and bring car back to east end for MC-1. Setting off at Leavittsburg would
be much quicker. Any train setting off or picking up CD cars would usually
do it at Track #6, a stub in front of the bunk house just east of Leavitt
(a/k/a Euclid) Road.

Response to Jim's turnover----

Steamer Lawson has been set back--now due at River Terminal dock at 0100
tomorrow.

Not much else to comment on. A bit of a lull on the first-subdivision. No
ore moving. Tomorrow and Sunday will be busy with empties being released at
Sharon, CWKS, BRS, and WA but we won't have a Saturday report.
